August Sketch - Creative Scrappers - Vacation Layout

Hi there!

It is the first of August - which means: SKETCH TIME! There is a new amazing Sketch over at the Creative Scrappers blog . This months sponsor is The Cut Shoppe and Ashley was being super generous and let us pick cut-files to use along with the Sketch. If you head on over to the Creative Scrappers blog there is also a free set of cut files for you to play with!

I used the Tiny Triangles background and the Make a splash cut file.

Vacation by Laureen Wagener

DESCRIPTION: I really liked the sketch for this layout Kristine designed! I chose one background cut- file for the top left sight of the page and cut files to use for decorating the page.

HOW TO: Decide on a background cut- file you would like to use, cut it out of cardstock and back it with different patterned papers. Cut out two strips of colored cardstock and frame your backed design. Use a 4x6 photo and start embellishing around it according to the sketch. Add a few color splatters to finish off your design.

Goofballs - Layout

Hi everyone!

I am up over on the Just Nick blog with my second post using one of the new cut files that have been added to the shop yesterday.

Goofballs by Laureen Wagener

DESCRIPTION: I was assigned to create a layout using the new cut files that have been added to the shop yesterday. I was loving them all, but knew I couldn't use them all on one single page. I wanted to use the bits of the Amy Tangerine collection "Better together" I had printed and cut with my Silhouette and they had a lot of circular elements - so I decided to use the Spacey Circle Background for the layout. Then I knew it would have been to busy for me to use it as a complete background so I modified it a bit.

HOW TO: Use the Spacey Circle Background and crop it at the top and bottom. Cut it out of white cardstock and back the open space with your patterned paper of choice. Use embellishments from a collection you like, I used Better Together from Amy Tangerine. I clustered the embellishments around my photo, adhered them using regular adhesive and foam dots and then used Rub-Ons where I felt they were needed. For finishing touches I used rubber shapes from Pinkfresh Studio and added my title with these amazing yellow Alphas from Pinkfresh Studio.

SUPPLIES: Alpha stickers ,rub- ons , spray mist, rubber shapes, ephemera pieces, patterned paper
cardstock: American Crafts, adhesive: American Crafts;
Spacey Circle Background 2 Cut file: Just Nick Studio, Die cut machine: Silhouette Cameo

Scrapbook Werkstatt August kit

Hi scrappy peeps!

Today you can get your hands on the very summery, fun and bright August kit from Scrapbook Werkstatt!
If you love pineapples and flamingos this kit is perfect for you!  It includes the Fun in the Sun collection by doodlebug and a few bits from Lorabailora and Freckled Fawn.

Here are my six projects I created with the kit!

This paper by Elle's Studio was just made for a grid design layout - Christina thought the same and also created one amazing layout and she did some great stitching on the outline of her page.

For some reason I absolutely love the look of paper rosettes on layouts - I made one back in March using a Tim Holtz die, which I also used to create these out of all the colorful papers in the kit.

Tone- on tone embellishing?! I am all in for that! It takes out some of the guess- work I guess. Also this kit had me experimenting with watercolors a lot, which I love to use on cards! I also used a stencil from Echo Park to include a few extra pineapples.

For this one I had no particular idea in mind, I just knew that I wanted to use the Sassy Circles Cut and Fold by the Cut Shoppe - and I knew that one entire background would be too much and too busy for my preference. I manipulated the design by deleting some of the circles.

My favorite paper in this kit - as soon as I saw a picture of this paper I knew I needed to use these diamond shaped cut files by Inna Moreva/ handipaper on etsy! A little watercolor underneath the photo and the page was done- the paper did the rest!

You don't find the happy life, you make it - Layout

Hello there! Today I would like to share a "Just- because" layout with you using papers from the new Take me away collection by Paige Evans and Pink Paislee.

You don't find the happy life, you make it by Laureen Wagener

DESCRIPTION: Alex was so sweet sending me a few of her amazing printables! I saw this and loved the title as it matches perfectly with what is going on in my life!

HOW TO: Use this printable from Alex or any other with a large text for your title. Cut it with your electronic die- cut machine and back it with different patterned papers from Take me away. Adhere them behind the cut file with foam dots for added dimension. Adhere two strips of patterned paper to the left side. Mat your photo onto lots of patterned papers. Create a small cluster of embellishments on the paper strip on the left and underneath your photo.
Punch out lots of butterflies out of the patterned paper and scatter them around the page to embellish. Use gold spray mist and add a few drops and you're done!

SUPPLIES: Cardstock stickers, patterned paper, small doily, spray mist, butterfly punch,
cardstock: American Crafts, adhesive: American Crafts;cut file: Alex Hunter Designs

Wander

Hi there! I am so excited to share this layout with you today!

It features my two all time favorite scrapbooking collections - both from Pink Paislee, Fancy Free and Take me away.

Wander by Laureen Wagener

DESCRIPTION: I am absolutely loving Quilts and would really love to be able to sew them on my own! I don't really have the time (and money) to buy fabric and then create a Quilt but therefore I managed to make a Quilt- inspired layout. As soon as I saw the paper 21 in the Take me away collection I knew it was perfect for creating a very colorful Quilt looking design. I looked through pinterest, looked at Quilt patterns and then made up my own.

HOW TO: Use paper 21 from Take me away, or any paper with squares on it, cut them all up into tiny squares - they are 2.5" x 2.5". Then cut the squares into triangles. Chose a Quilt design you love or just make up your own design and adhere the triangles slightly. To really secure the triangles and to give it that Quilt design, use your sewing machine to stitch them all down using white thread and your sewing machine. Use Fancy Free to embellish making a little cluster around the photo and in the bottom right corner. Stick down your title at the top left corner in the white strip, to not cover up that beautiful Quilt design you've created.

SUPPLIES: Glitter foam thickers, ephemera pieces, small doily, buttons, patterned paper, acrylic shapes, cardstock: American Crafts, adhesive:American Crafts; sewing machine

Make your own sunshine

Hi everyone! Today I would like to share the instructions for the layout „Make your own sunshine“
I recently made for Just Nick Studio– it features lots of stitched flowers and embellishment clusters.

Make your own sunshine by Laureen Wagener

DESCRIPTION: I usually seek my layout inspiration either from Pinterest or mainly by looking
through my cut- files. The cut file I used is a cut- file I knew I wanted to stitch in different colored
thread.

HOW TO: Decide on a cut- file you would like to stitch out, if you are new to stitching, I would
recommend starting with a smaller design like a small phrase/ title or add a few icons like hearts.
Replace the blade in your electronic cutting machine with a pen or pencil and draw the design onto
cardstock or patterned paper. Poke holes every ¼ inch with a paper piercer and color in the design
with differnt colored watercolors. Then back-stitch the entire design. For the title use a die-cut
sentiment and color it in with watercolors, creating an ombre effect. Finish the layout with two
embellishent clusters around your photo and add your journaling if you'd like.

SUPPLIES: exclusiveAlpha stickers , chipboard stickers, dimensional stickers, puffy stickers, wood veneers, buttons, spray mist, rubber shapes,exclusive ephemera pieces Cardstock, pen, adhesive:American Crafts; Watercolors: Loew Cornell;
Doily Background Cut file: Just Nick Studio, Die cut machine: Silhouette Cameo; Floss: DMC

Scrapbook Werkstatt July kit

Hi peeps!

Today is the day you can get your hands on the amazing, fun and bright July kit from Scrapbook Werkstatt!
If you have summery pictures to scrap, it is the perfect kit for that! It includes the Sunshine and Happiness collection from Simple Stories and Sunny Days by Elles Studio.

Here are my six projects I created with the kit!

I absolutely love the look of stitched titles colored in with watercolors! Zsoka Marko did this with the June kit and Paige Evans does it all the time - I just had to try it and haven't looked back since! There is a stitched element of some sort on my layouts most of the time now.
